This project summary documents the installation of a 12mm 192 x 336-pixel video board in the Campbell County School Aquatic Center in Gillette, Wyoming.
The video board installed in the Campbell County Aquatic Center makes it the first aquatic facility in the nation equipped with a 12mm video board. The school district wished to equip their facility with a state-of-the-art scoreboard and CTS was able to meet their needs. The addition of the new 90.7” x 158.75” board provides valuable feedback instantly to the athletes during training. Pat Kirk, the Campbell County School District Aquatics Director noted that the presence of the board also “brought a dimension of excitement to meets.”
CTS designed the aquatic timing system for the facility and supplied start systems, timing consoles, and touchpads along with the new video board. The video board can display live video gathered from three cameras, which pick up the action in the pool while four underwater cameras capture the race from a different angle.
“This board is the next step in enhancing the experience for athletes, parents, and students,” says Kirk “It brings us to the next level of competition.”
CTS has been partnered with Campbell County School District since the aquatic center was built in 1982. Since that time, the school district has continually turned to CTS to update their equipment, including the installation of the video board.
The video board was delivered to the facility in June of 2006 and in the time since, the board has been put to use as both a training tool and as a display source for a variety of competitive meets, including the Wyoming Men’s State Finals Meets.
The response to the video board has been ecstatic. The swimmers and divers on the Campbell County High School swim team are thrilled with the new capacity to look at replays of their technique on the video board; this provides them with instant feedback, giving the swimmers and divers a valuable tool when assessing their form. As Kirk notes, this board is part of “a partnership in producing great dives and great times.”
